18th-27th May – in and around Wallingford

This May, Wallingford is a destination for art lovers with a showcase of work by local artists, makers and creatives.

Visitors can follow an ‘Art Walk’ around the town to glimpse into artist studios, discover specially curated exhibitions and find original art adorning town centre businesses.

This celebration of creativity is part of Oxfordshire Artweeks, the UK’s biggest open studios and pop-up exhibition event, which returns to Wallingford and the surrounding areas from 18th – 27th May. The artists participating include world-class painters, photographers, ceramicists, jewellers and sculptors and talented members of a variety of community groups working in many media.

The town council has supported an Art Trail map with four routes in Wallingford and the villages around, which is available from information centres and participating venues.

New for this year is an ‘Artist Showcase’ in the Town Hall from 24th – 27th May. Visitors can view a curated selection of artwork spanning various mediums and styles, with a single piece on display from each artist taking part in Artweeks.

‘This is the ideal starting point for visitors to find work they like and go on to visit their studio or exhibition in the town and the surrounding area,’ said Jason Atomic, curator of the Showcase.

A full programme of the events will be available to view from the end of April at www.visitwallingford.uk

Wallingford & District Art Club is one of the venues and our Summer exhibition is on 25 and 26 May at Centre 70 (we are Venue 419).
