HISTORY

WADAC was formed in 1979 by a group of local artists who wished to gather regularly to learn and improve their skills, as well as spread the word about the benefits of art-making. Since then, the Club has grown to include members of all levels and abilities, working in a range of different media.

Club Objectives

An extract from the WADAC Constitution:

  1. The objects of the Club shall be the advancement of public education in the visual fine arts and the provision of facilities in the interest of social welfare for the recreation and leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants of Wallingford and surrounding area; and in furtherance of the foregoing objects but not otherwise:
  2. to present, or assist in presenting, arts exhibitions, lectures, arts festivals, exhibitions of local interest and other forms of fine arts and crafts;
  3. to encourage and assist in the provision and development of suitable buildings, including centres, where arts may be practised, presented or studied; and
  4. to do all such other things as are necessary or incidental to the attainment of such objects or any of them.

Art in the Community

It is our desire to promote art in the community, "improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants of Wallingford and the surrounding area". As such, we look for any opportunities to step outside and take art to people who may not be best placed to see us.
