11 March workshop – impressionism painting in oils

Saturday 11 March – 10am to 4.00pm

On Saturday 11 March 2023, we are running a one day workshop on painting in an impressionistic style in oils. Our tutor for the day is Paul Oakley, from Pewsey Vale Studio.

Paul is a self-taught artist based in the Pewsey Vale in Wiltshire. Predominantly painting in oils, Paul enjoys painting the landscape around him and on trips away – either painting en plein air or in the studio. He also paints still life and enjoys the challenge of binging a composition to life on canvas. He developed his style through studying the works of artists such as Edward Seago and his contemporaries.

Paul teaches oil painting from his studio in the old village cricket pavilion and also regularly demonstrates for art groups in the area. Further information on courses can be found at www.pesweyvalestudio.co.uk.

The workshop will be held indoors at Centre 70, Wallingford. Paul will plan for us to paint two landscapes, one being in the impressionist style as shown below, by Monet. Artists must supply their own materials and lunch. The cost for members is £40 and for non-members, £45 to include coffee/tea and biscuits.

To register your place, please email us on admin@wallingfordartclub.org.uk

Please note that the Goldsmiths Lane entrance off the High Street is closed to traffic from 6 February. The alternative route is via St Martin’s Street and St Mary’s Street, off the roundabout by the Methodist church.
