Tuesday 22nd October, 7.30pm, live at Centre 70
October’s live demo sees artist, Steven Hall, create an industrial scene in watercolours. Steven is influenced by the style of celebrated watercolourist Edward Wesson, who (in Steven’s words), “managed to put aside all the verbal clutter about the medium of watercolour and put down on paper what he observed in as simple and honest fashion as was possible”.
Steven originally taught architecture and construction. This experience was to prove invaluable, since it laid the foundations for good skills in depicting buildings. In 1994, he took early retirement and once more escaped into the world of watercolour, gradually settling on his own style. Other artists with a similar honest approach to the medium that have also influenced his style and approach to painting include Edward Seago, Jack Merriott, James Fletcher-Watson and lately John Yardley, with whom he has had the pleasure to paint at Dedham Hall.
