On Saturday 23 March, WADAC held a one-day workshop with artist Paul Oakley giving a demonstration of taking a work from photo to painting in oils.
Paul guided attendees through composition, and the importance of knowing what to include and omit from a photo. Attendees used a photograph supplied by Paul to consider techniques to transform a photo into a successful painting, then had time to create a painting from their own landscape photograph.

Wiltshire-based artist Paul runs Pewsey Vale Studio. He is mainly self taught, and has developed his skills as an oil painter through attending Norfolk Painting School and, as well as exhibiting, enjoys sharing what he has learnt and continues to learn through running courses and giving demonstrations.
