Lily Pond, Gavin Peacock

Oil on canvas

Gavin says:

I work mainly in oils and acrylics, looking for great compositions with plenty of depth and atmosphere. Many of my paintings are from my imagination which gives challenges but also cart blanche and the ability to pick whatever composition is going to work. At the same time, a photo with a great composition is also a delight to paint, I am always up for stretching my skills. More recently, I have been playing with VR. It has been very politely described as Alice-in-Wonderland. Primarily, it is a showcase for my paintings and gives a history for my more recent ones, showing the decisions made in producing them. However, it is really one big experiment.

Gavin achieved national recognition, winning the SAA artist of the year competition in the amateur still life category in 2023.

SAA is the world’s largest community of artists, with over 43,000 members to date. Click here to view their website.

Gavin’s painting, “Waiting for the King” is oil over acrylic underpainting and will feature in SAA’s exhibition at Espacio Gallery in London, from 26th to 29th October.  The winners will be announced on 11th August.
