David Booth remembered

David Booth, the former chairman of WADAC, sadly passed away on 5 September 2025, aged 81. He had been suffering from various complaints in the past couple of years, which combined, caused his untimely demise. Nicola visited him in April and Nick in August and he was in good spirits and optimistic about his condition. He leaves wife Linda and daughter Lara and her husband.

David’s funeral was on 25 September at Reading Crematorium and several WADAC members attended. The service was largely ecumenical, led by a celebrant, and with music and readings reflecting some of David’s favourite things, including Olivia Newton-John and Abba! Nick received several emails from members and many said the same things: what a hard-working, quietly stoic man he was; how kind and supportive of others; how tirelessly he worked, since 1979, to grow WADAC; what a gentleman and a gentle giant he was; and what a fine artist. He will be missed by many.

The photos are of the family flowers, the WADAC attendees at the funeral, and David sketching en plein aire, at Cholsey Meadows a couple of years ago.

RIP David.
