On Tuesday 20th June, artist Jan Gaska will give a demo on the Thames landscape in oil. Jan is an artist based in the Chiltern Hills of south Buckinghamshire. He produces landscapes and portraits in oils.
He sees a magical, dream-like quality in the landscape, suggested through reflection, light and atmosphere, impacted by the weather. He finds wonder in the light, changing colours from warm to cold, dark to light, creating an atmosphere of depth and concealment.
Jan finds inspiration from a number of artistic styles, including American Tonalism, Romanticism, and Russian Realist painters. He studied Fine Art BA Hons at the Surrey Institute of Art & Design.
