On Tuesday 20th January, we had a live demo by Claire Cross – watercolour with salt
Morning tutor, Claire Cross, demoed to a good turn-out of around 30 people, including 6 new visitors. Claire is interested in incorporating watercolour mark-making techniques into real paintings. During the demonstration she used salt to meaningfully create a beautiful effect in the painting; rather than just adding texture, the salt ‘painted’ a large part of the picture in an interesting way. She also looked at the different types of salt and the effect they have on watercolour.
