Successful Summer Exhibition

Wallingford and District Art Club held its annual Summer Exhibition on 13-14 May 2023 at Centre 70, Wallingford. Members were encouraged to submit works that represented the theme, CELEBRATE, to mark the Coronation of King Charles III.

Anthony Wilder attended the preview event on the evening of 12 May and gave an appreciation of the paintings submitted to that theme. He’s shown here viewing work by Carole Kettle, David Booth, Andrew Petit and Mark Wood.

The exhibition opened to the public on Saturday 13 May at 10.00am and there were over 100 works from over 23 artists on display, using all painting media, plus handmade ceramic, created by local artists.

In total we received over 450 visitors, with numbers being swelled on Sunday by the Wallingford Vintage Car Rally that was happening next door on the Kinecroft.

It was nice to see a younger, family audience enjoying the art on display. We sold 17 original paintings, 14 limited edition prints and over 75 cards, which was up on last year’s total.

Thanks go the committee who were on hand throughout the weekend, plus several other members who did sterling work in hanging, stewarding and dismantling the exhibition. Our next show will be in mid-December 2023.
